Biscuit screed system provides an economical means of incorporating UFH into a property, while also offering excellent overall heat output.
This system can be used on ground or upper floors, and involves laying a thin layer of screed over UFH pipework clipped to insulation, between battens. It is only possible to get away with such a thin screed layer (as little as 25mm) as it is not forming a structural slab – just used to fill in between the battens/joists.
The only disadvantage of this system is that it does introduce a ‘wet’ trade in the screed, which can especially be challenging on upper floors.
